HOLDERS of unlicensed moorings in Kames Bay have been given until the end of next month to obtain a permit from the Crown Estate.
A deadline of July 30 has been set for all mooring owners in the bay who do not yet have a licence to either apply directly to the Crown Estate or to join the Port Bannatyne Moorings Association.

The announcement, in a notice on page 5 of this week's issue, follows Lord Uist's confirmation in a Court of Session ruling earlier this month that the Crown Estate owns the sea bed within the bay and is entitled to charge for its use.

Mooring holders who join the PBMA enjoy a substantial discount on the normal licence fee; the association's AGM takes place this Monday, June 28, at 7.30pm in the Port Inn.
