The playground, which had been relatively run-down and unwelcoming, had approximately £54,000 spent on it, with specialist companies and the successful contractor designing the new play area to include a birds nest pendulum swing, roundabout, multi-p
lay unit, springie, see-saw, toddler swings and a picnic table.
To ensure a safe playing environment, new safety surfacing was laid and improvements were made to ensure safer access.
Alistair MacGregor, the Chief Executive of Argyll Community Housing Association said, "It is easy to say that ACHA only provide housing, but housing is nothing without facilities like this.
"It's an investment for the future, and we hope the children will take charge of their playground, as it is also their investment.
Councillor Robert Macintyre officially opened the playground, with local resident 9-year-old Abbie Tayler cutting the ribbon to the entrance. Abbie had written a letter to ACHA after the refurbishment had taken place, saying, "Thank you for the new play park, my friend and I love going on the big swing and hanging on the blue bars".
Cllr Macintyre said, "It is a pleasure and a privelege to re-open this playpark, which has been well used in the past.
"I can remember in the early days of the council when the grass had grown high, and the fencing was broken.
It has really enhanced the area of Ardbeg, and I hope it will be enjoyed for years to come."
