'A CRASH of drums, a flash of light, my golden coat flew out of sight' ... these words are no doubt etched onto the minds of many after North Bute Primary School's performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - a show which delighted all who saw it at Port Bannatyne village hall last Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Jenna Reid played the part of Joseph - her beautiful vocals stealing the show - with comic relief coming from Potiphar and his wife (Yordi McFie and Robbie Malcolm), and the three 'Elvis' pharaohs (William Boag, Harris Dunn and Graham McKirdy).

Joseph's brothers were played by Holly MacMillan, David Maxwell, Alex Mundy, Marcia Murray, Orla Ferguson, Craig Fisher (Wednesday's performance), Nicola McClymont (Thursday's performance), Murray McClymont, Calum Robertson, Jude McNeil, Jodie McNeil and Effie Doyle.

On many an occasion, the audience was in stitches from the exploits on stage - with Potiphar's wife chasing poor Joseph around the hall, the 'goat' being flung on stage from the chorus to be slaughtered to stain Joseph's coat with blood, and with Joseph riding in on his 'golden chariot' for the finale - actually a scooter wrapped in gold tinsel (chariots are quite hard to come by these days!).

The choreography was the work of pupils Alex Mundy and Ashley Christie, who, along with their fellow dancers put on a fantastic display in front of the stage - cheerleaders' pom-poms and cowboy hats made it a colourful affair.

The highlight for the pupils, however, may have been seeing their teachers take to the stage for a rendition of 'Those Canaan Days' - Georgann Martin, head teacher Elizabeth MacMillan and Alison Kay. It was clear a great deal of work had gone into their performance!

At the close of the show, many thanks were expressed to Tony Spencer, who'd provided the music for the entire show, Christine Deighan, who designed the costumes, Lorna Rae for creating the backdrop, lighting from Ricky Harrison, and ticket design by Murray McClymont.

And the biggest round of applause went to all the pupils of North Bute Primary for putting on such a spectacular show - the bar has been set very high for next year!
