ARGYLL and Bute MP Alan Reid has not been named in the list of MPs who will be required to pay back money claimed in expenses.

Mr Reid was not among the list of 390 MPs who Sir Thomas Legg says should repay a total of £1.1 million after an audit of expenses relating to 'second home' allowances.

Elected in 2001 as the Liberal Democrats' successor to the long-serving Ray Michie, Mr Reid was reported to have claimed a total of £53,736 in second home allowances between 2004 and 2008.

National media reports stated that he had claimed for 30 overnight stays within his constituency during the same period, though Mr Reid said the peculiar geography of the area meant it was not always possible to travel home at night.
