REVELLERS on Bute cast a wide net over various island party spots to dance away and welcome in 2010 in style this week.
The announcement that the Pavilion would not be hosting its traditional Hogmanay celebration left a void in many residents' plans - but this was well filled by smaller venues around Bute.

Fans of live music were treated to three bands at Craigmore Bowling Club with local groups Acousticrat and Rise joined by guest band Sax Appeal, all bringing in the new year with verve.

In the centre of Rothesay, the Galley also had their Hogmanay celebrations set up to cater for a variety of tastes with a large buffet on offer and a warm and friendly atmosphere to welcome customers who took full advantage of their late licence.

Kingarth Hotel was 'party central' at the south end of the island, with a capacity crowd filling both their dancefloor and dining lounge.

For those who decided to see in the New Year in the warmth and comfort of their own homes, Bute FM extended its live broadcasts, carrying on past the station's normal 6pm closedown and continuing with live programmes until just after 1am.

A big crowd of volunteers and their families assembled in the station's Castle Street studios to see in 2010.
