The 2008 show will see the return of the livestock sections which were withdrawn last year due to the foot and mouth disease alert in the south of England, with exhibits of sheep and dairy, Highland and beef cattle as well as Clydesdales, light horse
s, dogs, poultry and pets.
BAS president Jim Reynolds told The Buteman: "The livestock sections are supported by both local and mainland exhibitors, and we look forward to their support once again, with the champions of each section competing for the coveted champion of champions' trophy."
The prizes at the end of the day will be presented by the society's guests for the day, Lyn Bulloch, deputy lieutenant of Argyll and the Isles, and his wife Marjorie.
Before the trophy presentations, though, there'll be plenty of activity to keep the family entertained throughout the day, including the highly popular dog show, demonstrations by the talented canine members of the Clyde Valley Dog Agility Club, and several activities brought in last year to compensate for the lack of livestock - among them the Highland dancers from the Margaret Anne Speirs School of Dance, the tug o' war, Bute Vintage Club's vintage tractors and the show's domestic section and craft displays.
"The society is grateful to all our stand holders and sponsors both local and national for their continued support and we welcome them to the Show Field on Wednesday. We hope everyone comes and enjoys their day."
The festivities will be rounded off by a ceilidh dance in the Show Field marquee on Wednesday evening. For more details on the day's events, contact BAS secretary Gillie Banks on (01700) 831614 or check the society's website (www.kilchattan-bay.co.uk).
