2014 IN VIDEO: Bute’s record bid for Stand Up To Cancer

Our last video look back at the big stories of 2014 on Bute highlights the amazing charity efforts of the island’s residents and visitors in aid of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

A month of fund-raising efforts included a charity car wash, a ‘gunge bath’ and a Halloween fancy dress day as well as contributions from the island’s schools and businesses, particularly Ettrick Bay Tea Room, helping towards a total of more than £7,300 for the UK-wide appeal.

The centrepiece of the campaign on Bute, though, was a giant ceilidh in Guildford Square on October 17, when 306 people attempted to set a world record for the largest ceilidh ever held in a single venue. Here’s a small compilation of clips from a memorable afternoon - hope you enjoy them!
