Twenty-five years since the last of this group left Rothesay Academy, the Class of '88 gathered for a reunion on Friday, August 23.

A group of former pupils at Rothesay Academy returned to the town this weekend for an emotional school reunion.

The pupils all started school in 1975 and left, or would have been due to leave, their sixth year in 1988.

Twenty-five years on, they met at the 292 Club in Rothesay on Friday to share memories from their school days - many of them sparked off by the series of photographs which lined the walls of the venue, showing off more than a few teenage fashions, complexions and hairstyles we suspect some would have been happier to forget!

The reunion was organised by Callum Wilkinson - and though Callum himself was unable to travel back to Bute from his home in Cypress, Texas, as his wife was due to give birth, judging from the smiles on the faces of all those who did attend, his efforts were hugely appreciated by his former classmates.

* We’ll be featuring more photos from Friday night’s reunion in the next issue of The Buteman, on sale from Thursday, August 29 - don’t miss it!
