Bygone Bute: Rothesay Bay

Rothesay Bay in days gone by.
Rothesay Bay in days gone by.

This week’s Bits from Bygone Bute photo is of an undated view of Rothesay Bay showing the Royal Navy presence in the bay and the CSP turbine steamer Queen Mary II leaving the pier.

All we know about when the picture was taken is that it pre-dates 1957 - the year the Navy presence in Rothesay came to an end and the year the Queen Mary II had her two funnels replaced by one.
