Deported sex offender in court
A registered sex offender who went missing for two years and was traced to Canada has appeared in court.
Martin Cusick, 52, was charged with failing to notify police of a change of address.
He appeared on petition in private at Paisley Sheriff Court.
He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
A large-scale hunt was launched after the former policeman, from Clarkston on the outskirts of Glasgow, disappeared in October 2005 without notifying police of a change of address.
Cusick was detained by officers at Heathrow Airport after being deported from Canada.
He was charged with failing to notify police within a period of three days that he was intending to leave Britain in October 2005, as required by sexual offences legislation.
The 52-year-old is due to return to court next Friday for full committal.
Cusick has a twin brother, who is a retired police officer living in the Glasgow area.
The men have been estranged for a number of years.
