Wemyss Bay coast road to close for resurfacing
THE A78 coastal road south of Wemyss Bay is to be completely closed later this month for resurfacing work.
The trunk route will be shut between Largs and Skelmorlie for work to be carried out on a three hundred metre stretch of the southbound carriageway.
The closure takes effect at 6am on Sunday, May 20 and, according to Transport Scotland’s website, all restrictions will be lifted before 7pm that day.
During the closure, drivers heading between Largs and Wemyss Bay in both directions face a lengthy detour on a diversionary route taking in Kilbirnie, Lochwinnoch, Kilmacolm, Port Glasgow, Greenock and Inverkip.
Part of the same stretch of the A78 will be subject to temporary traffic controls from Tuesday, May 8 until Thursday, May 10, due to drainage works at Meigle.
