Up close and personal at Ascog turbine site

Reeni Kennedy-Boyle from Towards Zero Carbon Bute leads a visit to the site of the proposed Ascog Farm wind turbines.

The organisation which stands to benefit if the controversial Ascog Farm wind turbines are given planning permission has held a public visit to the site.

Reeni Kennedy-Boyle from Towards Zero Carbon Bute took four members of the public, plus The Buteman, on a tour of the hilltop site above Ascog in the hope that those present could visualise what the three proposed turbines, each 74 metres tall from ground to blade tip, would look like up close if they are given the green light.

The tour visited the locations of all three proposed turbines, as well as the site of the vehicle access road which will be built if the scheme is given approval.

TZCB, which is part of Fyne Futures, the ‘sustainability’ arm of local housing association Fyne Homes, will receive a minimum of £27,000 a year in ‘community benefit’ during the wind farm’s anticipated 20-year lifespan if planning permission is granted for the project in its current form.
