Tours of Tony and Beryl Harrison's Huf Haus in Ascog on September 9 are fully booked, according to the Doors Open Days website.

Guided tours of one of Bute’s most distinctive houses have been fully booked - a week ahead of the event.

Tony and Beryl Harrison, owners of The Huf Haus in Ascog, will open the doors of their dream home on Sunday, September 9 in an event organised by the Rothesay Townscape Heritage Initiative.

The tours are part of the nationwide Doors Open Days scheme - but the Doors Open Days website states that ‘Tours of this site are now fully booked’, reflecting the huge level of local interest in one of the island’s most eye-catching properties.

The Ascog Huf Haus - one of only a handful in Scotland (the term is not generic, but refers to a building manufactured and erected by a German company owned by brothers Georg and Peter Huf) - was inspired by the Harrisons’ visit to a similar property in Surrey, featured in a 2004 episode of the TV series Grand Designs.

The Huf business model combines pre-fabricated building elements with a high quality of construction and a strong emphasis on energy saving.

To book a place on one of the 30-minute guided tours on September 9, email Gillian Allenby at the Rothesay THI office (gillian.allenby@argyll-bute.gov.uk) or call 01700 501358 during office hours.
