BRUCHAG Caledonia, a 17-month-old Simmental bull owned by Robert McAlister of Langalbuinoch farm and shown by Jim Reynolds of Rothesay, was crowned Champion of Champions at the Bute Agricultural Society show on Wednesday.

Glorious weather attracted a bumper crowd to the Showground in Rothesay for the annual event, which featured Highland dancing demonstrations and a display of eagles, falcons and other feathered predators from the Loch Lomond Birds of Prey Centre near Balloch in addition to the array of dairy, beef and Highland cattle, sheep, poultry and pets from around the island and beyond.

And there were more celebrations for the Langalbuinoch branch of the McAlister family after Robert’s daughter Emma won the RHASS Trophy, the prize for the event’s champion young livestock handler.
