Roadworks on A78 from this weekend
ISLAND drivers using the main A78 coast road through Largs to travel to and from Wemyss Bay have been warned to expect delays due to resurfacing work on a stretch of the road through the south of the town.
A new surface is to be laid between the Gogo Water, near the town’s Morrisons supermarket, and the Haylie Brae.
Restrictions, involving temporary traffic signals and a convoy vehicle, will be in place from 7am to 5pm this Sunday, June 17, and from 9.30am to 4pm on the following weekdays until the work ends on Thursday, June 21.
The work will be carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland.
Amey spokesperson Colin MacKenzie said: “This scheme will result in real improvements to the condition of the road from Gogo Water and Haylie Brae.
“Regrettably there will be some disruption because of the roadworks, but we hope that residents are able to be patient with us for this short period of time while we deliver the project, which will result in a smoother more even road surface.”
