MP Reid welcomes scrapping of fuel duty hike

Argyll and Bute MP Alan Reid has welcomed the Chancellor’s decision to scrap this year’s fuel duty increase in his Budget statement.

In his Budget speech on Wednesday, George Osborne singled out Mr Reid for his campaign against the fuel duty increase.

Speaking after the announcement, Alan Reid said: “I am delighted that the Government has decided to scrap this year’s fuel duty increase.

“This decision, on top of freezes for the last two years, means that from next month fuel duty will be 13p a litre lower on the mainland and 18p a litre lower on islands than it would have been under the previous Labour Government’s spending plans.”
