Pupils from Rothesay Joint Campus at last year's eatBute festival. The 2012 event takes place at Mount Stuart this Sunday, September 30.

The focus is on food and crafts from Bute, Argyll and the surrounding region at the 2012 eatBute festival, taking place at Mount Stuart this Sunday, September 30.

From 10am on Sunday, visitors to Mount Stuart can take part in the eatBute trail, winding a path through the Kitchen Garden and learning where our food comes from.

Have fun meeting Mount Stuart’s hardest working residents – The Happy Hens - or become an official Mount Stuart Explorer by taking part in the Scavenger Hunt.

Throughout the day the Mount Stuart restaurant will be open as normal, offering a delicious array of fresh, local, seasonal dishes.

Head chef Oscar will be giving food demonstrations in the Farm Shop throughout the day and will be on hand to answer your cooking conundrums.

A fantastic food & craft market featuring local producers will take place from 11am–5pm in front of the magnificent backdrop of Mount Stuart House.

Ritchies of Rothesay, Just Seaweed, Henshelwoods and Rothesay Joint Campus are just a few of those who will be there, representing Bute’s rich food heritage.

Included in the craft producers are Standing Stone Crafts, Bute Crafts, Ray Beverley, Bonnie Bling and many more!

At 12noon Big Dougie will oversee the official opening of the event by kicking off a programme of entertainment which will take place in the heart of the food & craft market. Entertainment will include Margaret Anne Speirs School of Dance and local band Acousticrat.

Apple Tree Nursery will be there bringing their own inimitable style of fun and games to the event – with facepainting and storytelling among the planned activities.

Visitors can enjoy a burger, an ice cream or even a beer while taking in the festivities on the front lawn.

At 4.45pm the day will round off with the eatBute fancy dress parade to find this year’s eatBute mascot. Boys and girls are invited to come along in their food, drink or animal themed outfit for the parade where the winner will be announced.
