Bute to host 2013 tourism summit

BUTE is to play host to one of the most important events in the local tourism calendar next year.

The 2013 Argyll and the Isles tourism summit is to take place at Mount Stuart on a date yet to be confirmed.

The last annual summit of the Argyll and the Isles Strategic Tourism Partnership saw more than 140 tourism professionals gather at Portavadie Marina in March, among them VisitScotland chief executive Malcolm Roughead OBE and James Stuart, chief executive of the Royal Yachting Association Scotland.

Earlier this year the partnership secured £164,000 from a number of public sector organisations, including Argyll and Bute Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Leader and the VisitScotland Growth Fund, for a two-year marketing programme.
