Bute seaweed turns heads at Good Food Show

A Bute firm which sells seaweed gathered from around the island as food and beauty products represented the island at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland in Glasgow at the weekend.

Iain McKellar from Just Seaweed used the show to launch a new range of milled seaweeds, and also displayed and sold a range of items from Henshelwoods Fine Foods – while his products also attracted the attention of an interviewer from BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme, as well as from a number of big fish suppliers.

Iain has also told The Buteman his Rothesay shop, in the town’s Albert Place, will be closing down shortly after the premises were sold by the owner.

“I’ll be closing the shop until I find suitable premises next year,” Iain said.

“I haven’t shut down – the shop was very popular over the summer, and I would like to do it again next year.”
