The 491 service operated by West Coast Motors is to see a route change from March 29.

A change to the route of the Rothesay town bus services was announced at Bute Community Council on Wednesday.

The 491 and 492 services, which run in a loop from Guildford Square in the town centre via Ballochgoy, Barone Road, the Bush and Rothesay Joint Campus, are to operate additionally via Minister’s Brae in the town.

The new routes are as follows: Service 492 (outward from town) by High Street, Minister’s Brae, Roslin Road, Eden Drive, Foley Road, Bush Road, Wallace Avenue, Eden Drive. High Street then to Joint Campus.

On return to town (service 491) the route would be reversed: from the Joint Campus via High Street, Eden Drive, Wallace Avenue, Bush Road, Foley Road, Eden Drive, Roslin Road, Minister’s Brae.

The alteration is aimed at providing more convenient access to bus services for those living in Minister’s Brae, Glebe Terrace, St John’s Drive, Glebelands Road, Foley Park and the houses at the Roslin Road end of Eden Drive.

As well as improving access to bus services, the new route is also fractionally shorter than the current one.

The route change will take effect from the start of the new summer timetable on March 29.
