Achievement Bute fun day turns Rothesay into Rio

Rothesay was temporarily transformed into Rio thanks to the latest fun day organised by local charity Achievement Bute on Saturday.

A Samba Day at Rothesay Pavilion conjured up images of sun, sea, sand and dancing in the streets courtesy of dance teacher Scott Fairley and his local assistant Daniel Sweet - and the group of some 40 local children who came along to take part.

And the samba spirit didn’t begin and end with dance - the children involved also took a lot of time and care over a huge variety of colourful masks and costumes, making for an eye-catching display when mums, dads and friends were allowed into the hall at the end of the event to watch a performance of the day’s work.

Saturday’s event was the second ‘Pavilion Fun Day’ organised by Achievement Bute in 2013, following the success of a Superheroes-themed event last month.
